Books by Dr. Freedman and about his work
“In this beautifully written, brilliant, comprehensive, and thoughtfully integrated book, Dr. Freedman brings together knowledge of specific behaviors characteristic of schizophrenia with what we now know of their neuronal processes, thereby pointing the way to an evolving psychiatry of the future....The story reads as an exciting mystery.” Jack D. Barchas, MD, Professor and Chair of Psychiatry, New York Hospital.
This 2020 book by Robert Kolker describes a family with six sons with schizophrenia, several of whom Dr. Freedman helped treat. The book concludes with how Dr. Freedman’s work with this family led to the finding that prenatal choline could help prevent mental disorders including schizophrenia.
